Business travel is never all that fun, but coming home to new MODs makes the end of a long trip much better. On one of those most recent trips I was happy to see that the new Rugged Ridge Center Console for a Jeep Wrangler JK (2011-2016) had arrived. Upon opening the shipping box, we examined the product and found that it was surprisingly durable, yet flexible. The true test was going to be the exhaustive install that was awaiting about 5 minutes of my afternoon.
The install as I mentioned above was extremely easy, all you have to do is:
- unbox
- wipe down existing center console surface
- flip Rugged Ridge console cover and remove adhesive strip covers
- set in place and press down to allow adhesive strips to adhere to existing console surface
Overall, the Rugged Ridge Center Console fits well over the existing console and looks slick. It is comfortable enough for short stints of leaning on it while driving and the spacing between the grooves are close enough that it is not digging into your arm. After testing the console on a long trip there does leave a pattern in your bare arm, however, with a long shirt or jacket the console was good. It actually elevates the console height slightly. If I had anything concerns or negative to say, I would be worried about hot days and leaning on it. However, we will have to wait until summertime to test that hypothesis. If you’re current center console is ready for a makeover, don’t want to spend a great deal, and want a durable, unique but great looking MOD then you should strongly consider the Rugged Ridge Center Console.
