The Recon Smoked Side Marker Lights with Amber LEDs arrived on a cold, wet evening after returning from a long business trip and outside of returning home to my family, Jeep MODs always are the next best pick-me-up. So I was excited to open them up and see what had been delivered and begin planning the install.
After unboxing and determining the method by which to install I quickly began organizing my tools. I needed to have the following to make it an easier install:
- needle nose pliers
- wire stripers/compressor
- wire butt connectors
- electrical tape
The install took about an hour once I determined that I had to manually disconnect the white connector from the back of the Recon light bracket. Once that part of the process was completed, I striped those wires and connected the butt connectors so I wouldn’t have to do so under the fender. The removal of the stock fender lights is tricky, but once removed it moved smoothly and the Recon lights fit nicely in place.
Once in place, you need to cut off the stock connector and strip the wires to connect to the butt connectors you already installed on the Recon lights.
Overall, the lights are well made and are extremely bright when on. I recommend that if you are looking for a quick MOD that moves your build to a more “blacked out” look and feel then the Recon Smoked Side Marker Lights with Amber LEDs are a step in right direction. At a relatively low cost they are a must buy!!!
