The balance between road performance and soft terrain performance is excellent for the Toyo Open County MT. I run a 35×12.50/R17 on my Wrangler. This is my daily driver as well as the rig that gets me to remote off road locations for work and play. I needed something that would take the pavement beating without sacrificing traction when in soft ground or any trail. Even after 3,000 miles and being out of alignment, the tires have stayed true and worn very well. I am into my first tire rotation and the wear is very even despite the terrible road conditions and abuse they have taken on the trails. And as most Jeep owners I like my jeep to look as good as it performs. These have a great look and very functional tread pattern as well as sidewall lugs to add to the soft ground traction as they dig in. They haven’t let me down yet.
They are a little pricey when compared to similar styles and tread pattern. The Open Country is also a very heavy tire. Both of these are to be expected given the rubber compound, size and increase tread life. As expected with any deep lug tread pattern they do tend to grab and pick up rocks, mud, water or anything you drive over and add it to the side of the jeep.
I feel the Toyo Open County MT was a good investment. I must have performance on and off the road and do not want to replace tires every 10k miles. They have served me well, pulled me in and out of any terrain (pulled others out of the same terrain) and continue to wear and perform excellent. I absolutely recommend spending a little extra to up front on this investment. I will be putting another set on after these finally wear through.
