The OnyxBox is a self-contained electrical circuit box that can be installed to manage all of your accessories running to a switch panel inside your rig. Designed and produced by The Onyx, each box is hand-built and quality craftsmanship.
The OnyxBox provides a clean, organized way to provide power & switching to five individual electrical circuits – each with it’s own relay & fuse protection. I had Michael (OnyxJeep) hook mine up in the JK using an A pillar panel & switches from Rugged Ridge – but he can use the stock A pillar panel & install 5 smaller rocker switches in it – it’s very clean looking. Michael provides a clear wiring diagram with each unit, making it easy to add additional accessories as your budget allows. Since it’s all self-contained, there’s no need to molest the factory wiring on your Jeep – which is pretty complicated on the JK/JKU.
Nothing really – it’s just what we needed to get the 50″ LED light bar up & running. The only bad thing is now I’ve got four circuits ready to hook up – and no budget for more lights yet!
I found the OnyxBox to be a great power-distribution solution for our Wrangler, as I was looking to not have to touch the factory harnesses on a modern, computer-controlled vehicle. But this is a universal part – you really could install one in any vehicle where you needed additional switched electrical relays. I’ve got an older Toyota Land Cruiser as well – when I get ready to start modding that rig for an Expedition/Overlanding build, I will likely contact Michael about putting an OnyxBox in it.
