UPDATED REVIEW – MARCH 13, 2018
It’s been a few weeks since I finally installed the Rugged Ridge Gen 2 Fender Liners and overall am satisfied with the product. I will be honest, I was very hestitant to start off because I did NOT want to have to uninstall my Rugged Ridge XHD Armor Fendors. Luckily, I did not have to uninstall anything and found that I could install rather quickly.
The install took about 20 minutes tops once I determine how to slide the fenders in place after removing the older inner fenders. Once in place, I was able to use the hardware supplied to easily secure the fenders in place along with attaching using the existing fender bolt shown below. Overall, I was extremely pleased and surprised on the ease of the install.
The fenders themselves look great, and serve the exact purpose as I expected by protecting my inner fender that exposes my engine. As you can see below from the images the transformation is clear. The best part about a modification like this is that these are out of sight out of mind. You don’t think about them until you realize you need a good solution for them. The only complaint I have regarding them is the fender is angled inward and can rub, which I expect to watch and see some breakdown over time.
After installing the Rugged Ridge XHD Armor Fenders, I installed some inner fender liners and have not been satisfied with the fit. The XHD fenders from Rugged Ridge were fairly new on the market, and Rugged Ridge didn’t have a fender liner that fit the wheel wells. Well, that has changed and I’ve placed my order and will soon be installing the new Rugged Ridge Gen 2 Fender Liners that were made to fit with the Armor Fenders.
Stay tuned for a larger, more comprehensive review of the install, thoughts and tips around this product in the coming weeks.
