The Rugged Ridge All-Terrain Flat Fender Flare Kit is a very easy installation with good instructions. The installation only required basic tools and the flares gave as much coverage as the stock flares. Because they are not as thick as the factory fenders there is about 3 inches of more clearance from the flare to the tire. Rugged Ridge support is outstanding, including damage support.
The flares will not withstand heavy duty off-road use, They crack easy if rubbed against a tree (rear), they can’t handle a lot of water pressure applied to them. The plastic is thin, the mounting bolts and washers hold the flare but don’t provide adequate support for upward pressure. In a water crossing, the water pushed the flares upwards and tore away from the mounting bolts and washers, pulling them through the plastic (Front).
If you are looking for a set of flares that give you more tire clearance and are going to be gentle off-roads mainly sticking to trails, they are great. If you are going to be an off-road beast, these are not the flares for you, invest in something all steel or aluminum. Rugged Ridge is very supportive to questions and replacements of their parts.

You can also use in combination with a suspension lift for maximum off road performance. These exciting new flares are out-of-the-box ready to turn your street Jeep into an off road machine. By removing your original flares and replacing them with these high clearance designs, you can run larger tires without interference from the flare. The ability to run a larger tire with little or no suspension lift means a “lower center of gravity” making our JK more stable, yet you still get greater ground clearance necessary for off road. With 1.5 inches less coverage in the front and 1 inch less in the rear these flares are slightly narrower than factory, yet still maintain proper tire coverage and aggressive looks. Constructed of a flexible UV treated high impact thermoplastic, these flares are designed for the trail and create a whole new look for your JK. Easy to install, these flares replace your factory flares, attaching to the factory mounting points with no drilling. Simply remove your original flares and add on the All Terrain flares. The kit also includes easy to install mounting brackets that allow you to relocate and use the existing factory side marker lights.
