MALVERN, Pa. (July 5th, 2017) – Anticipation for the release of the 2018 JL Wrangler continues to grow as its production date draws closer and closer. Although FCA has been fairly tightlipped, offering up little to no information on the new JL, there has been a fair number of leaks and spy photos that have all but given away the final product.
Jeep has been talking up having three different top options, with recent spy images capturing an ’18 with a power roof out for testing. It is still uncertain what the top will look like in the end or how modifiable it will be, but the early spy photos show a lot of promise for the 2018 Wrangler’s top setup. A couple of glimpses into the interior have nabbed us a first look at the JL infotainment system, with a few details leaking about the 3 different options JL owners will have to choose from. There are also a wide array of other accessory switches and hook-ups, essential for any rig, with a CB radio/antenna connection being the most notable one.
In addition to the exterior and accessories, new rumblings of new engine options have emerged. There has been a lot of talk around having 2 different 4 cylinder turbos, 2 versions of the 3.6L Pentastar V6, and the 3.0L EcoDiesel 6 cylinder. While even we find it a little far-fetched to think that there would be 6 engine options, it does have us wondering if there is some truth to this or if it could be indicative of a bigger plan, like the Jeep platform going global.
There has been a lot of talk building in the forums amongst prospective buyers about 2018 JL Wrangler parts. While obviously nothing has been released as of yet, enthusiasts have begun creating their rough build lists of JL parts, honing in on swapping out the tires, adding a lift kit, replacing the bumpers, and improving the visibility with off-road lighting.
