The Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ is an excellent Mud terrain Tire. Very deep aggressive tread pattern that run up into the 3 Ply sidewall. Starting with 19/32 inch tread depth and a large lug pattern that you can feel vibrate through the vehicle at lower speeds, these give you plenty of grab when off road, especially in soft mud, sand or gravel. Tread seems soft enough to grip on hard surfaces such as rocks or pavement. They wear well as I am at almost 15k miles and close to halfway through tread.
As inherent in deep tread of a M/T tire these are a little noisier than most A/T tires at highway speeds. These will also “cup” a little more if vehicle is not aligned correctly. At full pressure the triple sidewall is very stiff when running all 50 PSI. These, of course, are very common in M/T tires.
As using this for my daily driver down the highway as well as a trail rig on a very regular basis (almost daily in my line of work), I really like these tires and they have performed above expectations. They look great, wear well and provide the grip on and off road that I need and expect.
Extreme off-roaders will appreciate the great ride and handling that this mud tire has on the highway. The MTZ has Mickey Thompson’s Power Ply™ sidewalls with a special angled third ply to give you high performance handling, better puncture resistance, and improved towing capability.
