One of the challenges that all Jeep owners face is the need to protect their investment. This is why we’ve begun investing into more coverage for our underbelly. The Hauk Offroad Wrangler JL Exhaust Skid Plate is the first of our attempts to protect our build from the harsh elements of the trails.
The exhaust skid plate arrived about a week ago and we’ve yet to get it installed, however, we did unbox it and found some interesting insights. First, the box is heavy! It is solid 3/16″ thick steel skid and comes as bare steel. There should be ZERO cutting or drilling and based on pure visuals this should offer amazing protection. This is important to know as I was expected a powder-coated product that I could quickly install and move forward on. I have loosely installed to gauge placement and ensure no manufacture defects and all things point to a great fit without sacrificing ground clearance or looks.
Next, I will be dropping this off to get powder-coated and/or coated with the same Kevlar type finish I have on our Jeep Wrangler JL. This should offer a sleet, uniform look that will cover up the dingy factory muffler as well.
Hauk Offroad is known for their extensive collection of products to provide armor around and under your Jeep Wrangler. Therefore, when we began our search ,and we saw their products at Jeep Beach 2019 the decision was a no brainer. That being said, I’m extremely satisfied with the products build, brackets construction and perceived durability up to this point and will update everyone after I get it fully installed and will document the process and pictures to go with it.
